Letter to the editor: Right turns on Chick - Guangzhou CoastwiseSail Ventures Co.,Ltd

The Republican Party has in recent years has become addicted to eating its own.

Just look to Donald Trump for the most excellent example of that predilection. Has Trump ever seen a supporter he was not willing to throw under the bus if it aided his agenda? And whatever Donald is wont to do, the lemmings follow in spades.

The latest victim of this practice is the Atlanta-based fast-food chain, Chick-fil-A.

Chick-fil-A has long been a favorite of the right because it wears its Christian values on its sleeve. For example, it is always closed on Sundays. However, recently it has become a beacon for the anti-woke religious right. It's sin — no pun intended — is the report that it intends to appoint a vice-president of diversity, equity and inclusion to aid in its efforts to recruit employees.

Never mind that such hiring practices would be in keeping with Christian values — you can't go around offending the anti-LGBTQ crowd resident in the Republican Party without suffering the consequences. So, it would seem that Chick-fil-A is going to join the ranks of "woke" corporations like Bud Light and Target as worthy of a boycott.

But there is a bright spot in all this dismal nonsense: I don't often frequent Chick-fil-A, even though I like their fast food. That is simply because you can't get near the place, it is so busy. Maybe now, all the conservatives will take their business elsewhere and I can get a place in line.

Ignore a business- fine, do your best. Threatening a Target employee merely because they are wearing a rainbow shirt is the most violent, aggressive action that the GOP right wingers have sanctioned.

Bose, I'm sure they were just peaceful people touring Target....

Ohh, and by the way, this just in: right wing, anti-LGBTQ protestor are attacking Target employees! How dare the Progressives force those nice people to resort to such tactics.

Such anger about a rainbow when gun violence, crime, and a corrupt leader in their party....why?? Oh, Hunter's laptop.

None of these things would have happened if the sheep would have never followed the Woke. Weak people......

Don't like them? Then don't go there. Simple. I like Chick-fil-a's food. Gonna keep going.

"Diversity, equity and inclusion" hires are a waste. Companies only do it to appease the loud mouth liberals. And look at what such hires have cost Bud Light, Target and now Kohls. I'll bet the CEO's of those companies wish they had never, ever thought of hiring "diversity, equity and inclusion" officers. Just treat everyone the same and you won't have problems. Well, except for the dudes in dresses. It's OK to laugh at them

What do you know about what it's like being a minority or a woman for that matter in a system that is rigged against you? DEI leadership exist because of non-inclusive people like you. And, as long as we have to deal with ignorant comments like your's above, there will always be a need for DEI leadership.

Isn't Affirmative Action enough? Aren't minority schools like Howard enough? Isn't the NAACP enough? What ever happened to hiring the best person for the job instead of having to go "Gee, we haven't hired a black woman in a wheelchair that identifies as a fish this month, better get to it"? Or worse yet, having it mandated by the government.

The same people say "there's no racism (sexism,) in this country" so we don't need CRT or the ERA.

Yes, remember when doing that was okay? Not anymore! Also, you forgot about the horror of micr0aggressions! You know, aggressions so small, they can only be seen with a Pr0goscope... [lol]

Can you imagine being against diversity, equity, and inclusion? But Republicans need a constant flow of "enemies" to keep their voters riled up and distracted from the fact that Republican policies help only billionaires and harm most regular Americans. Hence, from the imaginary "War against Christmas," to Dr. Seuss, to Disney, to Mr. Potato Head, to M&Ms, to light beer, to fried chicken, Fox keeps producing one fauxrage after another. And some people keep falling for the okey doke.

Apparently those are not priorities for Switzerland, Norway and Iceland either. By the way, even the 'woke' UN adjudged them as the three most liveable countries in the world.

Businesses that focus on gender identity and all that other baloney rather than business will fail. I don't care if a barber or a barrista has purple hair, neck tattoos, and multiple piercings. I don't wanna see that in corporate America though. There is such a thing as decorum. Although the drooling idiot from Pennsylvania wants to wear hoodies and gym shorts because mom and dad never taught him how to dress.[whistling]

Contrary to what people believe, Chick-fil-A went down hill years ago. They made it known back in 2011 for sure, but had been sliding downhill since before that.

Downhill perhaps in your imagination. Every fast food chain wishes they had a drive-thru lined up all around the building like every Chick-fil-a I have ever gone by. Plus, their staff is trained to be ultra courteous to everyone. Give them a thank you for your order and you will get back a "My pleasure".

Chic-fil-a is the standard when it comes to customer service. Only Disney is better. And, the fanatical right can't stand either. YouTube is fool of fanatical MAGA's displaying their hate and bigotry in fast food restaurants, whether buying or serving. Hence, the need for DEI. Such fragile white people.

Even Satan was created as an angel of light and look how far downhill he has gone. One can be polite and have no morals.

You're wrong. Chick-fil-a is the best because they treat all of their employees and customers with dignity, not following gimmicks. That's why it their drive-through lines are so long....CONSISTENTLY.

They are the best because their food is good ........ that's it.
